Coventry United’s stellar new signings will get their first opportunities to impress when The Red and Greens face newly-promoted Sunderland at the Butts Park Arena this afternoon.
Manager Jay Bradford has brought in no less than nine new faces in a summer where the foundations have really been put down for upward movement.
The likes of Nom Hartley, Mollie Green, Olivia Fergusson, Rio Hardy and Katie Wilkinson could be handed their debuts as Coventry United look to put the last two seasons of struggle well and truly behind them. The new-look forward line will understandably be analysed but so will Coventry United’s defence given how easily the back-line has been breached in the last couple of years. If Bradford’s side can keep clean sheets, other matters should nicely fall into place.
Sunderland are preparing for their first match in elite football in three years. Manager Melanie Reay has kept her faith in the group which served The Lady Black Cats so well during their time in the third tier. Summer signings Charlotte Potts and Emma Kelly are likely to make their debuts in Warwickshire.
