There’s a London derby in the second week of FA Women’s Championship action as London City Lionesses meet neighbours Crystal Palace at Princes Park.
Both sides had a quick start to the new season with each gaining a win. New signing Rianna Jarrett helped The Pride to their victory, scoring the only goal from the penalty spot against Liverpool while Palace won a seven-goal thriller against Bristol City at Hayes Lane with Coral-Jade Haines bagging a brace.
Republic of Ireland international forward Jarrett will be hoping to kick on and provide the goals to help fire up London City Lionesses’ promotion charge. She netted just twice for her previous club Brighton and Hove Albion in the league. Fellow new signings Kenni Thompson, Brooke Nunn, Charlotte Fleming, Jamie-Lee Napier, Mollie Rouse, Carli Girasoli and Amy Rodgers also made their debuts against Liverpool last week with Thompson being particularly impressive.
One of the new signings for Crystal Palace, Charley Clifford, contributed to their victory with a goal and the experienced former Charlton Athletic player will be looking to build on her positive start with The Eagles. Four other singings, Aimee Everett, Millie Farrow, Molly Sharpe, and Leanne Cowan also made their debuts last week.
The last three meetings between the two sides have been fairly equal and have ended level so this afternoon’s fixture could be another keenly contested affair.
