West Ham United will be looking to get their first points of the new season on the board when they face Aston Villa at The Chigwell Construction Stadium on Saturday.
The Hammers were defeated 2-0 at Brighton & Hove Albion on opening day but they had to play for the best part of an hour of that match with 10 players after Hawa Cissoko’s first half dismissal for hand ball.
Cissoko will not feature against Aston Villa this weekend with the player now having to serve a suspension while long term absentees Katerina Svitkova and Maisy Barker remain sidelined. Manager Olli Harder could keep his faith in those players who performed so well in difficult conditions at Brighton & Hove Albion last time out.
Aston Villa opened their season with a 2-1 victory over Leicester City, although head coach Carla Ward admits that her side were far from at their best in that match. The Villans are without youngster Liv McLoughlin and Marisa Ewers for the trip to Dagenham but Ramona Petzelberger is back in training. New signing Emily Gielnik is thought to have received international clearance to make her debut.
The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between West Ham United and Aston Villa is scheduled to kick-off at 11.30am on Saturday morning and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event and on Sky Sports Premier League. Tickets remain on sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
