Manchester United have confirmed that defender Millie Turner dislocated her kneecap in Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Leicester City at The King Power Stadium.
The 25-year-old was stretchered off after coming together with Leicester City forward Natasha Flint in the early stages of the match.
The player’s injury has been assessed in full by the Manchester United medical team and the club have confirmed that Turner dislocated her kneecap. The defender has already started her rehabilitation programme with the standard recovery time for this kind of injury being around six weeks.
News of Turner’s injury comes as a blow for Manchester United with the club having made an impressive start to the new season. The Red Devils have opened the new campaign with back-to-back wins in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, they are one of just four clubs to achieve that feat.
Norwegian international defender Maria Thorisdottir came on for Turner at Leicester City and she really impressed. The player will be hopeful of retaining her place in the Manchester United backline throughout Turner’s absence.
