Arsenal’s Frida Maanum and Chelsea’s Guro Reiten provided assists as Norway recorded a resounding 10-0 victory over Armenia in Oslo this evening.
Both players played the full 90 minutes for Martin Sjögren’s Norway side, as did Manchester United defender Maria Thorisdottir.
It was from a Reiten corner that Norway took the lead, Guro Bergsvand striking home the opener after 10 minutes.
A Caroline Graham Hansen penalty kick and a Karina Sævik goal later in the half saw Norway go into the break with a significant three-goal advantage.
Norway added another goal soon after the break through Lisa-Marie Utland before Julie Blakstad added her name to the scoresheet.
Armenia were facing a sizeable defeat but things took a significant turn for the worst during the final 15 minutes as their defence crumbled further. Reiten provided two assists in as many minutes as Norway netted two further quick-fire goals, first through Graham Hansen and then through Utland.
Utland and Graham Hansen would complete their respective hat-tricks before the end, either side of an Elisabeth Terland goal which was created by Arsenal midfielder Maanum.
Norway now travel to Pristina to face Kosovo in their second FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia New Zealand 2023 qualifying match on Tuesday evening.
