PREVIEW: Crystal Palace v Sheffield United

Crystal Palace will be hoping to improve on a recent run of poor results when they take on Sheffield United at Hayes Lane this afternoon.

After winning their first game against Bristol City in Bromley, The Eagles have had two defeats and a draw in their last three matches. Meanwhile, Sheffield United have enjoyed a good start to the season and they were sitting top of the FA Women’s Championship table going into this weekend’s matches. Neil Redfearn’s side have bounced back from an opening day defeat at Blackburn Rovers with three consecutive wins.

Crystal Palace are known for their goalscoring and exciting football but they have arguably not been at their best in recent weeks. Manager Dean Davenport will be hoping to see a more clinical edge from his side with the likes of Millie Farrow and Molly Sharpe expected to contribute goals.

Sheffield United boss Redfearn will be without Rhema Lord-Mears with the player undergoing treatment for a blood clot in her lower leg. Long term absentees Alethea Paul and Ellie Wilson remain sidelined.

The Blades completed a double over Crystal Palace last season, winning both games 3-0. The South Yorkshire outfit also defeated The Eagles 5-1 in the curtailed 2019/2020 season.
