PREVIEW: Manchester United v Manchester City

Manchester United will be hoping to record a first-ever Barclays FA Women’s Super League victory over Manchester City when the pair meet at the Leigh Sports Village on Saturday afternoon.

It is The Cityzens who have taken seven points from an available nine in the three Barclays FA Women’s Super League derby clashes staged to date but Manchester United will fancy their chances in the latest meeting given both their recent form and the dire injury situation on the other side of the city.

Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner will again be without defender Millie Turner who is recovering from a dislocated kneecap. Kirsty Smith and Martha Thomas also remain out, although the pair shouldn’t be too far away from returning to action.

Manchester City have been heavily hit by injuries this season with multiple player absences severely impacting their form. Head coach Gareth Taylor has confirmed that there is no improvement on the injury front for this game with as many as seven players still sidelined including captain Steph Houghton and The Best FIFA Women’s Player 2020 Lucy Bronze.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Manchester United and Manchester City kicks-off at 1.30pm on Saturday afternoon and will be broadcast live on BBC One.
