PREVIEW: Manchester City v Chelsea

Chelsea will be looking to continue their winning streak in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League into a sixth game when they travel to The Academy Stadium to face Manchester City on Sunday.

Emma Hayes’ side are yet to win a Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture at Manchester City but they will arguably never have a better opportunity to do so with The Cityzens still suffering with multiple injury problems.

Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor has confirmed that the condition of his squad remains unchanged. Ellie Roebuck, Karen Bardsley, Khiara Keating, Steph Houghton, Esme Morgan, Lucy Bronze and Chloe Kelly all remain sidelined while Jamaican international forward Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw also continues to be absent.

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes has no new injury concerns to contend with ahead of the trip to The Academy Stadium. Aniek Nouwen and Pernille Harder missed the midweek victory over Servette FCCF and will not be ready to feature against Manchester City this weekend while Lauren James is unlikely to be given her long-awaited debut. Norwegian international defender Maren Mjelde could be in contention for some minutes after recently making her comeback from long term injury.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Manchester City and Chelsea is scheduled to kick-off at 3pm on Sunday afternoon. Tickets for the match can be purchased by clicking here.
