Manchester United youngster Carrie Jones has signed her first professional terms with the club according to reports on The Red Devils’ official website.
The 18-year-old joined Manchester United’s WSL Academy team from Welsh club Cardiff City Ladies in June 2020 and the player has gone on to make a handful of appearances for The Red Devils at senior level.
Jones was most recently in action for Marc Skinner’s side as they recorded a Manchester derby victory over Manchester City in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup at the Leigh Sports Village on Wednesday. The midfielder featured for the first 77 minutes of that match.
It has today been revealed that Jones has signed her first professional contract with Manchester United. The player has signed on until summer 2023 with the option of a further year.
After signing her first professional deal, Jones told Manchester United’s official media sources “I’m so pleased to sign my first professional contract, it’s something I’ve dreamt of since a young age, and to sign it with a club like Manchester United really tops it off.
“I’d like to thank my family for the sacrifices they have made over the years and for being with me every step of the way, and all of the coaches that have helped me on my journey, with a special mention to Charlotte (Healy) and the staff in the Under-21 Academy.
“I’m also thankful to the fans for their support and I’m really looking forward to continuing my development here for the next few years.”
Jones is still awaiting her full debut in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League but she is undoubtedly closing in on that moment after being involved in no less than 16 Manchester United matchday squads, making four substitute appearances.
