Liverpool have completed the signing of goalkeeper Charlotte Clarke from FA Women’s National League North club Derby County according to reports on The Reds’ official website.
The 21-year-old joins The Reds on a free transfer after agreeing her departure from former club Derby County. The player will compete alongside Rachael Laws for the number one jersey at Prenton Park with Rylee Foster currently recovering from a road traffic accident and former loanee Katie Startup having been recalled by parent club Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday.
After completing her move to Liverpool, Clarke said “It feels absolutely surreal to be here – it’s Liverpool, the biggest club in Europe and I’m absolutely amazed and thankful to be here. To be thought of to come here is incredible and such an honour.
“My family were ecstatic for me. I started off at Derby Women, so it holds a special place in my heart. It was a tough decision to leave but I really want to push on and get to the top and I really feel that Liverpool can do this.
“It’s a great opportunity, which I’m going to take with both hands.”
Prior to her spell with Derby County, Clarke was on the books at both Stoke City and Aston Villa. The player has also represented England at Under-21 level.
Clarke has been handed the number 27 jersey by Liverpool and will go straight into the squad for their Vitality Women’s FA Cup third round tie at Burnley on Sunday.
