Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall says that he does not care about the fact that Chelsea slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Reading on Saturday.
The Blues’ shock defeat in Berkshire, combined with Arsenal’s 4-0 success against struggling Leicester City, now means that The Gunners have a four-point advantage at the top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
When speaking after that victory over Leicester City, Eidevall said that the focus is on his side and that he does not care about the Chelsea result.
“Don’t care,” Eidevall said. “For me, it’s about focusing on our games, trying to win as many games as possible and looking at it one game at a time.
“I simply couldn’t care less about other teams’ results because I can’t do anything about it.”
Jordan Nobbs and Vivianne Miedema scored for Arsenal in the first half of the game at Meadow Park last night while Norwegian international Frida Maanum came off the bench to bag a brace late on.
Praising the impact of the substitute, Eidevall said “She’s a very, very strong addition and it was very good recruitment from Arsenal to sign a player of that age but who already has a lot of good experience and plays for a strong national team and who played in a good league in Sweden.
“That was a good foundation to be able to perform at a club like Arsenal. That’s exactly the type of player that we should be looking for.”
Arsenal are back in action again on Wednesday evening when they travel to Germany to face TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in their final UEFA Women’s Champions League group game.
