Blackburn Rovers defender Dean loaned to Brighouse Town

Blackburn Rovers defender Issy Dean has joined FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division club Brighouse Town on loan.

The 20-year-old has made just one appearance for Rovers in the FA Women’s Championship this season which came in the Lancashire club’s 3-2 victory over Coventry United at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium in October. The youngster has been handed a further two outings in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.

With Dean in need of regular first team minutes, FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division club Brighouse Town announced yesterday that a deal has been struck to take the player on loan. Dean joins a mid-table Brighouse Town side who have games in hand which they can use to their advantage to climb up the league table in the coming weeks.

Dean came through the youth ranks at Barclays FA Women’s Super League club Everton. The defender joined Rovers in summer 2020 and she made five appearances for the club in the FA Women’s Championship last season.

Rovers boss Gemma Donnelly has an excellent record of unearthing talent from WSL academies in the North West and despite her loan move, Dean is very much a player who has a bright future at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium.
