Rumoured Arsenal target Stina Blackstenius has today left BK Häcken upon the expiry of her contract according to reports on the Swedish club’s official website.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League leaders for the last couple of weeks and the prospects of a deal happening have today taken a step closer with Blackstenius now a free agent.
Further fuel has been added to the speculation with BL Häcken confirming that the forward has chosen to resume her career outside of her native Sweden.
Blackstenius has spent one year with BK Häcken after joining the club from Linköpings FC. She has gone on to score an impressive 30 goals in just 37 games for The Wasps. It is that goal return which has attracted admirers to the talented attacker.
On the international stage, Blackstenius plays a key role in the Swedish national team. She has been capped by her country on 72 occasions at senior level and has scored 22 goals. The forward helped the Swedes to third place at the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 while she was a goalscorer in the Gold Medal match at the Olympic Games last summer.
While Blackstenius’ future is now in the air, it seems likely that we will learn of her new club sooner rather than later. Arsenal fans will be hoping that the player is set to pull on the famous red and white jersey during the second half of the season.
