Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner says that he has been impressed with Norwegian international Vilde Bøe Risa so far this season and he expects her to be an important player for the club for many years to come.
The midfielder made the move to England in the summer following a short spell with Norwegian club Sandviken. Bøe Risa has made eight appearances for new club Manchester United so far in this season’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
Bøe Risa has been gradually eased into life at Manchester United since her move to The Leigh Sports Village but head coach Skinner says that he expects the player to become part of the fabric of the club.
“There’s no doubt with Vilde that she has a wonderful brain and ability,” Skinner told FAWSL Full-Time. “It’s a part of continuing that development and growth because I see her being a massive part of this club for a long time.
“We have to ensure that she keeps growing, keeps learning and keeps on the edge of her performance. I am trying to get our players to play on the edge of their performance every time they go out because there’s no room for us to be average in our mentality and in our performances.”
Bøe Risa has started to add goals to her performances for Manchester United and Skinner went on to say that the player will get better as she gets more seasons in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League under her belt.
He said “She has that ability, she is a wonderful character and she is someone who learns a lot, we have already seen a jump because she is learning, learning learning.
“As she has more experience and more seasons under her belt here, you are just going to see how much she progresses. She has a wonderful brain and she is someone who can be a major tactician in this game.”
Bøe Risa was an unused substitute as Manchester United drew 1-1 with Arsenal at the LV Bet Stadium this afternoon. The player will now be hoping to get some minutes in the Manchester derby next weekend.
