Leicester City forward Jess Sigsworth has been ruled out of action for the remainder of the season after sustaining an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury according to reports on The Foxes’ official website.
The 27-year-old Doncaster-born forward is in her first season with Leicester City after joining the club last summer. Sigsworth has scored two goals in 13 Barclays FA Women’s Super League appearances for the East Midlands club this season.
Leicester City have today reported that Sigsworth will not appear for the club again this season with the player having sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in training. The player will need to undergo surgery and a lengthy period of rehabilitation.
Sigsworth is in her third year back playing in the top flight. The player has also previously played at that level with former clubs Doncaster Rovers Belles, Notts County and most recently, Manchester United. Sigsworth netted her 10th Barclays FA Women’s Super League goal in Leicester City’s recent 2-1 victory over Birmingham City at St Andrew’s.
The forward seems to have made a significant enough contribution to help Leicester City remain in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League this season. The club are eight points above the relegation zone with just seven games left to play.
