Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall says that he expects Brighton & Hove Albion to come out in a very compact formation against his side at The People’s Pension Stadium this evening.
The Seagulls have never beaten Arsenal in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League but they can prove to be difficult opponents for the top teams in the division on their day.
When speaking in his pre-match press conference, Arsenal boss Eidevall said that he expects Brighton & Hove Albion to come out very organised and that the Sussex club will be a difficult unit to break down.
“They are a very compact team and they are very good at set pieces and counter attacking,” Eidevall said. “They defend with a lot of players close to their own goal.
“We have played them twice now this season and they are a hard team to break down and I don’t expect them to be any different in this game.”
Brighton & Hove Albion have had a lot of joy from corner kicks in recent games and Eidevall said that his side have done their homework on Hope Powell’s team.
He said “It is part of the process for every game (preparing for set pieces). They are a great team on set pieces, we know that, so we need to be very aware and have a good strategy in our defending.”
Arsenal’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture at Brighton & Hove Albion kicks-off at 6.45pm this evening.
