Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall believes that Vitality Women’s FA Cup quarter-final opponents Coventry United will do absolutely everything that they can to perform.
The pair meet at the LV Bet Stadium in Boreham Wood on Friday evening with a semi-final tie awaiting the winners.
Arsenal go into the tie as the overwhelming favourites but head coach Eidevall is looking at the game with the mindset that his side have to earn their victory and that opponents Coventry United will be very keen to impress.
“I expect to play against a difficult opponent that will do everything to have a strong performance against us,” Eidevall told FAWSL Full-Time when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “Nothing will be won by itself so we need to put in a performance on Friday.
“We have the self-confidence knowing that if we play the way that we can, we definitely should progress but we need to do that and that is in our control.”
Arsenal have already faced two second tier sides in this season’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup in the form of London City Lionesses and Liverpool. Eidevall went on to say that he has been impressed with the level of quality shown by the FA Women’s Championship clubs.
He said “They have been hard-working teams with really strong, whole identities in terms of the way that they play and the players have very professional mentalities towards the game.
“I haven’t been surprised by what I have seen but the level has been good, they’ve been good teams to play against.”
Arsenal’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup quarter-final tie against Coventry United at the LV Bet Stadium kicks-off at 7pm on Friday evening.
