Barclays FA Women’s Super League leaders Arsenal will face second-placed side Chelsea in the semi-finals of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.
The semi-final draw took place this evening and was broadcast live on the Sportsday show on the BBC News channel.
With three of the current top four sides in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League remaining in the competition, there was always going to be a huge semi-final tie produced and as it has turned out, Arsenal will face Chelsea at the LV Bet Stadium in a re-run of the 2020/2021 final, a tie which The Blues won 3-0 at Wembley back in December. The other semi-final tie sees West Ham United host Manchester City in a repeat of the 2018/2019 final.
Arsenal were the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of this season’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup. The Gunners saw-off second tier side Coventry United 4-0 at the LV Bet Stadium on Friday evening. West Ham United then defeated Ipswich Town 1-0 while Manchester City recorded a 4-0 victory over Everton in Sunday’s lunchtime ties. The quarter-finals were completed with Chelsea’s 5-0 demolition of Birmingham City at Kingsmeadow.
The semi-final ties will take place on the weekend of 16-17 April 2022. Final dates, kick-off times and ticket details will be announced by the participating clubs in due course.
