‘We just need to keep building’ – Hayes wants more of the same from Chelsea

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes says that her side simply need to keep building momentum when they travel to The King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City this weekend.

The Blues have won their last four matches in all competitions and they can move to the top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table with a victory this weekend.

When speaking in a pre-match interview, Chelsea manager Hayes said that while Leicester City will be tough opponents, it is up to her side to continue to build momentum.

“The King Power Stadium is an amazing stadium to go to so we are looking forward to that,” Hayes said. “When we recently played them at home, for 20 minutes when they had 11 players on the pitch it was really tough. They are an aggressive team that create chances. They are at home and under Lydia Bedford, they are a team that have improved their way of playing.

“For us, we just need to keep building on the good work that we are doing and try to cause problems for their back-three. We are in a good rhythm, this is a good point in our season and we are playing well. The team knows that this is the last stretch and we know what we have to do.”

Commenting further on The King Power Stadium, Hayes said that she has visited the stadium before and she was very impressed with the facilities.

She said “I am really excited, it is a really beautiful stadium, I have been there once for commentary. It is an amazing facility and one where I know that our players will relish playing.”

Chelsea’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Leicester City kicks-off at 3pm on Sunday afternoon.
