Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall has labelled captain Kim Little ‘phenomenal’ ahead of his side’s UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final second leg tie against VfL Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen Arena on Thursday evening.
The 31-year-old is poised to make her 60th European club appearance in Germany, she has scored 40 goals in her previous 59 outings.
When speaking to FAWSL Full-Time in the pre-match press conference, Eidevall said that Little is a legend of the club as well as European and domestic competition before labelling the player ‘phenomenal’.
“Kim Little is a legend,” Eidevall said. “She’s a legend in the Champions League but she is a legend in Arsenal, she is a legend in the WSL and in the Scottish national team. She shows it week in, week out and she is the best example that I have come across of a player leading by example.
“She is phenomenal. The standards that she has on herself every day is phenomenal to see, training yesterday was no exception and I don’t think the game tomorrow will be an exception to that neither.”
Arsenal are aiming to reach the UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-finals for the first time in nine years, something that Eidevall believes would be a huge achievement.
He said “Of course, it is very hard reaching the semi-finals of the most prestigious club tournament but this is where we want to be, these are the games that we want to play in, these are the games where we want to prove ourselves.
“Nine years ago, the club were there playing (in the semi-finals) against Wolfsburg. We know it is hard but I 100 percent believe that it is possible for us.”
The UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final second leg tie between VfL Wolfsburg and Arsenal kicks-off at 5.45pm on Thursday evening.
