Spurs confirm midfielder Percival’s ACL injury

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ria Percival is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines with the player having sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.

The 32-year-old sustained the injury whilst away on international duty with New Zealand. The player featured for the Ford Football Ferns against Australia in an international friendly in Townsville, Queensland on Friday but she suffered a nasty injury in the first half of the match which saw her substituted.

Spurs have this morning provided an update on Percival’s fitness and it is bad news with the player having sustained an ACL injury. The midfielder is now likely to be sidelined for at least nine months.

Percival has been one of Tottenham Hotspur’s standout performers since joining the club in summer 2019. The player has made 47 appearances for The Lilywhites in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League while she has scored two goals. Her performances in a Spurs shirt have regularly attracted rave reviews for the club, fans and the media.

Spurs must now look to end the season strongly without the services of one of their most influential midfield players. The Lilywhites return to action following the international break with a home fixture against league leaders Chelsea on Sunday 24 April.
