Brighton & Hove Albion forward Ellie Brazil will miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a knee injury whilst on international duty with England Under-23s earlier this month.
The injury is the second to come out of the England Under-23s camp with Reading forward Emma Harries having also recently picked up a lengthy injury whilst representing The Young Lionesses.
Brighton & Hove Albion confirmed this morning via their official club website that Brazil has torn her medial meniscus in her knee. The injury can often heal relatively quickly, however, the player will not be seen again this season with surgery being required to address the problem. Brighton & Hove Albion are expecting the player back during their pre-season programme ahead of the 2022/2023 campaign.
Prior to her injury, Brazil had been a virtual ever-present for Brighton & Hove Albion in this season’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League. The forward has played in all 19 matches, starting 12 of those games. She has also featured in three domestic cup matches.
Brighton & Hove Albion are currently battling to record a second consecutive top half of the table finish in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League but they must attempt to achieve that feat with Brazil cheering them on from the sidelines.
