Four players are leaving FA Women’s Championship survivors Coventry United as their contracts come to an end this summer.
The Red and Greens have confirmed that Anna Colville, Phoebe Warner, Fran Orthodoxou and Becky McGrother are all leaving the Butts Park Arena.
Midfielder Orthodoxou is the most-used Coventry United player to be moving on. She has made 13 appearances for Jay Bradford’s side in this season’s FA Women’s Championship. Orthodoxou was a second half substitute as Coventry United secured a dramatic 1-0 win over Watford at Vicarage Road on the final day of the season to secure their survival against the odds.
The other three players to be leaving Coventry United have played bit-part roles for the club this season. Midfielders Colville and Warner both made just one league appearance for The Red and Greens in 2021/2022, neither started a game in the FA Women’s Championship. Forward McGrother leaves after playing three minutes of FA Women’s Championship football this season.
Manager Bradford has expressed her desire to keep the majority of the players who featured heavily in the club’s unbeaten run at the end of the season. News of those players to be retained by the club for next season is expected to be announced in due course.
NEWS: We can confirm that Anna Colville, Phoebe Warner, Fran Orthodoxou and Becky McGrother have all left the club following the conclusion of the 2021/22 season.
We thank them for their contribution in ‘The Great Escape’ and wish them all the best for the future.#UpTheCov pic.twitter.com/d4qGmmvcZ6
