FEATURED: Who is rumoured Chelsea target Périsset?

After the sale of the club was completed last week, Barclays FA Women’s Super League champions Chelsea are expected to begin their dealings in this summer’s transfer market in the very near future.

The Blues need to recruit to freshen up the squad, add greater depth and replace some long-serving players who are moving on this summer.

Speculation on which players will move to Kingsmeadow has been increasing in recent weeks with a handful of potential targets being suggested. One player who is being strongly linked with a move to Chelsea both in the English and French media is Bordeaux full-back Ève Périsset. There have been widespread reports that the player will join The Blues on a free transfer this summer when her contract with the French club comes to an end.

Who is Périsset? FAWSL Full-Time bring you three facts about the highly-rated full-back who could become a household name in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League next season.

Chelsea could add another experienced international to their ranks

Périsset is very experienced at international level. The 27-year-old has made 34 appearances for her native France and has been involved in the squads which featured for Les Bleues at the UEFA Women’s EURO in 2017 and the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019. Périsset has also been selected by national team boss Corinne Diacre for this summer’s EUROs in England. The full-back is a former FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup Bronze Medal winner with the player finishing third with France in Canada in 2014. At senior level, Périsset has formerly won the Tournoi de France and the SheBelieves Cup.

Périsset is a seasoned UEFA Women’s Champions League competitor

The UEFA Women’s Champions League trophy remains ‘the one that got away’ from Chelsea. In Périsset, The Blues would be acquiring the services of a hugely experienced player in European club football. Périsset has played UEFA Women’s Champions League football for nine consecutive seasons with Lyon, Paris Saint-Germain and latest club Bordeaux. Périsset was a competition winner with Lyon in the 2015/2016 season. The player knows all about the latter stages of the UEFA Women’s Champions League and that makes her a perfect fit for Chelsea.

A domestic trophy specialist

In a decade as a senior player, Périsset has won a whole host of domestic trophies in the French game. The defender won four league titles in her time with Lyon while she has also lifted the Coupe de France Féminine on five occasions, four with Lyon and one with Paris Saint-Germain. Chelsea are domestic specialists themselves and again, Périsset seems like a great fit for the club’s short and long term goals.

It might be a busier summer transfer window than usual at Chelsea this year and any transfer activity is sure to get the fans excited.
