Arsenal defender Jen Beattie has signed a new contract with the club.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from Arsenal this morning.
Beattie’s new deal will see her take up dual responsibilities with The Gunners. In addition to her on-field duties, she will be occupying a mentoring role within Arsenal’s academy. Beattie will also contribute her expertise to the club’s commercial and partnerships teams on an ongoing basis.
The defender is in her second spell with Arsenal after returning to the club in 2019. Beattie has made 134 appearances in total in red and white, scoring 30 goals. She has won one FAWSL title, two Vitality Women’s FA Cups and two FA Women’s Continental League Cups with the North Londoners.
After signing on again with The Gunners, Beattie said “I’ve really enjoyed the past three seasons, but I’ve still got so much to achieve as part of this club and I’m excited to extend.
“This is the club that gave me my first real opportunity in football – I was an 18-year-old kid coming down here initially and obviously, I’ve gone on and played elsewhere in between, but to be a part of it now… it’s close to home and it’s a special club. Being a part of the players and the staff we have, I really feel this is a club going in the right direction.”
Beattie joins head coach Jonas Eidevall and teammates Lotte Wubben-Moy, Steph Catley, Noelle Maritz, Vivianne Miedema and Caitlin Foord in signing a contract extension over the last few weeks.
