Long-serving London City Lionesses defender Fitzgerald pens new deal

Long-serving London City Lionesses defender Lucy Fitzgerald has signed a new contract with the club for next season.

The Pride announced the news this afternoon via an update on their official club website.

Fitzgerald has been with London City Lionesses since the club’s formation in 2019. The youngster has made 47 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Championship across three seasons while she has scored two goals. The 21-year-old is blossoming into an exciting young talent and London City Lionesses will be pleased to have retained her services for another year.

After extending her contract at Princes Park, Fitzgerald said “I am very excited to sign again for London City.

“I have been here from the beginning of the club and I’ve seen how much it has grown over the past years. I’m grateful for the opportunity to improve myself further as a player and person in this environment.

“I can’t wait to get going again for the new season and strive to achieve success with the team.”

In terms of retaining players, London City Lionesses have arguably been the busiest elite club so far this summer. Fitzgerald joins Shae Yanez, Karin Muya, Hayley Nolan, Grace Neville, Anna Pedersen and Rianna Jarrett in signing on with The Pride again for 2022/2023.
