Forward Ella Rutherford has signed a new one-year contract with Charlton Athletic according to reports on The Addicks’ official club website.
The 22-year-old former England youth international has spent the last two seasons with The Addicks. Rutherford has been an important member of the team with the player having made 29 appearances for Charlton Athletic in the Barclays Women’s Championship, scoring three goals.
With head coach Karen Hills currently building her squad for next season, it has today been confirmed that Rutherford is being retained for another year.
After signing on again at The Oakwood, Rutherford said “I am over the moon, I have really enjoyed playing for Charlton over the last few seasons, I feel right at home here and I can’t wait to get started.
“I really enjoyed working with Karen (Hills) last year. I like the way Charlton play, more so in our home. It is great for me to play professional football in my hometown, and I am really looking forward to next season.”
Rutherford has become the second player to sign a new contract with Charlton Athletic so far during the close season. Midfielder Lauren Bruton has also extended her deal with The Addicks at the end of her first season in South East London.
