Everton confirm departure of defender Pattinson

Everton have today confirmed that left-back Poppy Pattinson will be departing the club when her contract expires at the end of this month.

Pattinson joined Everton in the summer of 2020 following some stellar displays for previous club Bristol City. The 22-year-old has gone on to represent The Blue Girls on 28 occasions in the Barclays Women’s Super League in her two seasons with the club.

The 2021/2022 campaign has been a rather lacklustre season for all involved with Everton and it is has today been confirmed that the young defender is now heading for pastures new as she looks to undertake a new challenge.

Pattinson began her career with Sunderland before making the switch to Manchester City. The youngster never made a senior appearance for the sky blue half of Manchester and she made the long journey down to the South West to link-up with Bristol City where she really made a name for herself. After two years with The Robins, the full-back returned to the north with latest club Everton.

Word on Pattinson’s next destination remains a mystery at this stage but with few high quality left-backs on the market, it shouldn’t be long before she finds a new club. One would imagine that several clubs in the Barclays Women’s Super League and even further afield will be circling for her signature. Still at such a young age, Pattinson has plenty of opportunity to showcase her talents and perhaps even force her way into the Lionesses squad.
