Everton keeper Rúnarsdóttir completes permanent move to Bayern Munich

Everton goalkeeper Cecilía Rán Rúnarsdóttir has joined German club Bayern Munich on a permanent transfer according to reports on The Blue Girls’ official website.

The 18-year-old Iceland international stopper enjoyed a successful loan spell with Bayern in the second half of last season. Rúnarsdóttir made two appearances for the German club’s first team while she also turned out for the Bayern Munich II side.

Rúnarsdóttir is one of the most highly-rated young players to come out of Icelandic football and Bayern Munich want to give the keeper a second chance to impress with the German club acquiring her services from Everton on a permanent basis.

Everton signed Rúnarsdóttir last summer from Swedish club KIF Örebro DFF following a long period tracking the player. The teenager returned to KIF Örebro DFF to complete the 2021 Swedish domestic season before being loaned to Bayern Munich in January. Rúnarsdóttir leaves Merseyside without making a single appearance for her parent club.

It is almost certain that new Everton manager Brian Sørensen will recruit at least one new goalkeeper this summer. Both Rúnarsdóttir and first choice goalkeeper Sandy MacIver have left the club in recent days leaving Courtney Brosnan as the only senior goalkeeper on Everton’s books.
