Ruesha Littlejohn has signed a one-year contract extension with Aston Villa according to reports on The Villans’ official club website.
The experienced Republic of Ireland international joined Aston Villa last summer. The attack-minded player made 17 appearances in claret and blue in last season’s Barclays Women’s Super League.
Littlejohn has arguably played some of her best football for a few seasons with her latest club. That has been recognised by Aston Villa with the club having thrashed out a new one-year deal with the player.
After signing on again with Carla Ward’s side, Littlejohn said “I’m delighted to be extending my stay at Aston Villa.
“It’s a club with a vision and a bright future. I’m delighted I get to be part of the plans going forward.
“I’m looking forward to starting pre-season and being able to grow as a player and a person at this phenomenal football club.”
Littlejohn is the first Aston Villa player to put pen to paper at the club so far this summer. With the new Barclays Women’s Super League season now just two months away, expect the club’s recruitment drive to significantly pick up pace in the coming weeks as head coach Ward looks to build a side capable of pushing on again in 2022/2023.
