Durham have completed the signing of former Sheffield United forward Jess Clarke on a free transfer.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from Durham this afternoon.
Clarke has 52 senior England caps to her name while she has a wealth of experience in the domestic game following spells with Leeds Carnegie, Notts County, Liverpool and latest club Sheffield United. The forward spent one season with The Blades in which she netted twice in 13 Barclays Women’s Championship appearances. The player will be looking to increase that goal return with new club Durham.
After completing her move to Maiden Castle, Clarke said “I’m excited to join the journey and see where it takes us.
“I had a lot of time to think and towards the back end of last season, I felt like I was training well and my body felt great. I sat down and spoke with Lee (Sanders) – discussing me as a player, an individual and the environment – and we both came to the conclusion that this environment was perfect for me.
“The opportunity to play full-time football again was fantastic.”
Clarke is the second former Sheffield United player to join Durham this summer with defender Georgia Robert having also recently joined The Wildcats.
