Young defender Lily Woodham has signed a two-year contract extension with Barclays Women’s Super League club Reading.
The 21-year-old full-back joined The Royals from Bristol City back in 2018 and she has gradually eased her way into the Reading first team.
Woodham enjoyed her most successful season in a Reading shirt so far in 2021/2022. The player made 21 appearances for the Berkshire club in the Barclays Women’s Super League. Only fellow defender Gemma Evans can claim the honour of playing more league games for Kelly Chambers’ side than Woodham last term. The youngster’s career is going from strength-to-strength and it will be fascinating to see what the future holds for her at Reading.
After signing her new deal with The Royals, Woodham said “I love being here, playing with this special group, and learning from some of the best in the game, now it’s all about continuing to improve, repaying the faith Kelly and all the coaches have put in me!”
Woodham is the second Reading player to sign a contract extension with the club today. Fellow defender Deanna Cooper has also signed on with The Royals for two more years as Reading’s recruitment drive for the new campaign has gathered some pace.
