Sheffield United have announced the news that their women’s team will play their home fixtures at Bramall Lane in 2022/2023.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news earlier today via an official club press release from Sheffield United. The Blades have played matches at various stadiums including Olympic Legacy Park and The Technique Stadium in Chesterfield during their time in the Barclays Women’s Championship but they are now going home.
Sheffield United did play a couple of their matches in S2 last season. For their fixture against Liverpool, 4,100 fans were in attendance which was a record for a Barclays Women’s Championship match at that time.
Following today’s announcement, Zoe Johnson, Sheffield United Women General Manager, said “It was fantastic for the players to get a number of opportunities across last season to play at Bramall Lane.
“The move shows how connected this club is and how dedicated we all are to our women’s team. Every time we play at the Lane, it gives our supporters a chance to watch our women’s team represent the club in this historic stadium.
“To call Bramall Lane our home is a special moment for everyone involved.”
Sheffield United’s first home fixture of the season will be against Durham on the weekend of 27/28 August 2022.
