Former Birmingham City forward Ewens joins London City Lionesses

Former Birmingham City forward Sarah Ewens has joined their Barclays Women’s Super League rivals London City Lionesses.

The Pride announced the deal this afternoon via an update on their official club website.

Ewens spent last season with Birmingham City. She made 11 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Super League but the forward was unable to help the Blues to avoid relegation to the second tier. Ewens will be keen to return to the English top flight and the move to promotion-chasing London City Lionesses gives her a good opportunity to do that.

In addition to Birmingham City, Ewens can also count Spartans, Hibernian and Celtic as her former clubs.

After joining The Pride, Ewens said “I’m really excited and glad to be here.

“There’s a really good squad here so I’m buzzing to get going.

“For me, from my first chat with Mel (Phillips), I really resonated with the values that she’s installed in the club, so I’m delighted to be here and can’t wait to get going.”

Ewens is the sixth new signing of what is proving to be a very busy summer for London City Lionesses. The Pride have now added Lois Joel, Millie Farrow, Lois Heuchan, Lucy Shepherd, Hermoine Cull and Ewens to their squad during the close season.
