Birmingham City re-sign former favourite Green

Birmingham City have re-signed former fans’ favourite Mollie Green on a one-year deal with the option of a further year.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the transfer via an official club press release from Birmingham City just a short time ago.

Green previously spent the 2020/2021 season with the Blues. She made 17 appearances for Birmingham City, scoring one goal as a Blues side who were coached by Carla Ward avoided relegation against the odds. Sadly, the Midlands club couldn’t avoid the trapdoor for a second season last year and they will spend the 2022/2023 campaign battling in the Barclays Women’s Championship. Green will be hopeful of helping Birmingham City to mount a promotion challenge after re-joining the club.

After signing on at St Andrew’s, Green said “It doesn’t feel like I left. I’m happy to be back and I can’t wait to get started.

“I’ve got experience at both ends of the table, so I’m hoping that I can bring that quality with me and help the team here.”

Green has become Birmingham City head coach Darren Carter’s third signing of the summer transfer window following the recent additions of Siobhan Wilson and Martha Harris. The midfielder is another signing which will surely excite the club’s long-suffering fans.
