Charlton Athletic sign experienced midfielder Simpkins

In what is shaping up to be a very busy summer for Charlton Athletic, midfielder Emily Simpkins was today announced as the club’s fifth signing of the transfer window.

The Addicks announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Simpkins joins Karen Hills’ side following the expiration of her contract with Barclays Women’s Super League club Brighton & Hove Albion and she has penned a one-year deal with the South East Londoners.

Simpkins had spent four years on the South Coast, amassing 42 appearances in all competitions during that time. The 32-year-old is now taking a step down a division and she will be looking to have a significant impact in a Charlton Athletic side with lofty ambitions of challenging for promotion in the new campaign.

After completing her move to The Oakwood, Simpkins said “I am excited and looking forward to the new season ahead, settling in and meeting everybody.

“Charlton’s style of play really attracted me. For me personally, I really enjoy the ball and Charlton dominate games so I really feel like I can express myself here.”

Simpkins joins Freda Ayisi, Angela Addison, Sian Rogers and Corinne Henson in joining Charlton Athletic this summer.
