Sheffield United have completed the signing of defender Grace Riglar on a free transfer.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the deal via an official club press release from Sheffield United this afternoon.
The 21-year-old moves to The Blades after leaving former club Coventry United earlier today. Riglar spent one season with The Red and Greens, helping the club to avoid relegation to the FA Women’s National League. The defender made 13 appearances for the Warwickshire club in the Barclays Women’s Championship.
Despite being in the early days of her senior career, Riglar is experienced in the elite game. After starting her career with Bristol City, Riglar moved to Leicester City who she helped to the Barclays Women’s Championship title in 2020/2021. The player will have hoped to have been pushing for promotion with Coventry United last season but a slow start combined with mid-season financial issues impacted the club’s progress.
After completing her move to Sheffield United, Riglar said “I’m really excited to be here for this season. Sheffield United is a great club, it’s been established in the league for some time now and they’re always pushing to be in the top half and pushing for promotion. I’m excited to continue my footballing journey with Sheffield United.”
Riglar becomes Sheffield United head coach Neil Redfearn’s seventh signing of the summer.
