Sheffield United re-sign former defender Hartley

Sheffield United have completed the signing of defender Naomi Hartley on a free transfer.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official press release from Sheffield United this morning.

The 21-year-old joins The Blades on the back of leaving their Barclays Women’s Championship rivals Coventry United. Hartley spent one season at the Butts Park Arena, helping The Red and Greens to avoid relegation to the FA Women’s National League.

In her first spell, Hartley made 53 appearances for Sheffield United in all competitions. She cemented her place in The Blades’ defence prior to her departure last summer. The defender is another solid signing with head coach Neil Redfearn having a great summer in the transfer market.

After completing her Sheffield United return, Hartley said “I’m buzzing to be back. It was an easy decision and obviously it’s like a second home for me, so I’m buzzing to be back and get started with the girls again.

“It’s good to be back and see some familiar faces, and definitely some new ones as well. It feels like home and it feels like I’ve never been away.”

Hartley becomes Sheffield United boss Redfearn’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window. The player follows Maria Francis-Jones, Sophie Barker, Rachel Brown, Sophie Haywood and Bethan Davies in joining the South Yorkshire side.
