Coventry United have appointed Lee Burch as their new head coach ahead of the 2022/2023 Barclays Women’s Championship season.
Burch returns to work in the Barclays Women’s Championship almost 18 months on from leaving his former role as manager of London Bees.
In his time at The Hive London, Burch guided The Bees to their highest-ever league finish in the second tier while the club continuously remained competitive at that level despite the increased financial competition in the division. Burch also performed well in his role with former Barclays Women’s Championship club Millwall Lionesses, working on a tight budget and bringing out the very best from a youthful group.
Burch is undoubtedly one of the masters of Barclays Women’s Championship football and he is one of the most highly-rated coaches who has worked at that level in recent seasons.
At new club Coventry United, Burch must assemble a squad which is capable of remaining in the Barclays Women’s Championship following their recent switch back to a part-time operating model. The Warwickshire club hit serious ownership and financial problems last season before being rescued by new owner Lewis Taylor. The Red and Greens will be up against it week in, week out this season so Burch will be required to use his tactical nous and excellent individual player management skills to get the very best out of his squad.
Coventry United begin the new season at home to Bristol City on 21 August 2022.
