West Ham United sign former Arsenal attacker Hennessy

West Ham United have completed the signing of former Arsenal forward Alex Hennessy according to reports on The Hammers’ official club website.

The 17-year-old moves to The Chigwell Construction Stadium on a free transfer after the player announced her Arsenal departure earlier this week.

Hennessy spent five years with former club Arsenal, coming through their youth ranks to feature for the first team. She made her Barclays Women’s Super League debut for The Gunners in their 4-0 victory at Reading at the start of last season. The forward spent the second half of last season gaining first team playing experience with second tier side Crystal Palace and she will now be hoping for a run of top flight games with new club West Ham United.

After joining The Hammers, Hennessy said “It’s great to be able to join a Club that has similar ambitions to my own.

“I want to become the best footballer that I possibly can and being at West Ham, I feel like I’m in an environment where I can do that.

“I’ve loved the first week here and learning from the experienced players within the team. I’m already looking forward to the beginning of the season.”

Hennessy becomes West Ham United boss Paul Konchesky’s seventh summer signing.
