Celtic forward Charlie Wellings has completed a move to Barclays Women’s Super League club Reading.
The Royals announced the move this afternoon via a post on their official club Twitter account.
Wellings has spent one-season north of the border with the Glasgow giants in which she netted a hugely impressive 40 goals in just 34 appearances in all competitions. The forward also got a first taste of European football in the early rounds of last season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League.
The 24-year-old is no stranger to fans of the Barclays Women’s Super League. Wellings is a former product of the Birmingham City academy system. She netted 27 goals for the Blues in the Barclays Women’s Super League. Wellings was also on target for the Midlands club in their 4-1 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City at Wembley in 2017.
In 2019, Wellings joined Bristol City. She spent two years in the South West but left the club at the end of the 2020/2021 season with The Robins having been relegated to the Barclays Women’s Championship.
Wellings is the third new arrival of what has been a very busy Friday at Reading. The Royals have also added Northern Ireland internationals Jackie Burns and Lauren Wade to their squad today.
