Bristol City have completed the signing of midfielder Emily Syme on a free transfer.
The Robins announced the news this afternoon via a post on their official club website. Syme was without a club after leaving former side Aston Villa at the end of last season.
Syme returns to the club where she started her senior career back in 2017. At the end of the player’s first spell at Bristol City, Syme went on to feature for Yeovil Town in the top flight. The midfielder then went on to help Aston Villa to promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League in 2019/2020 before seeing her playing time become more limited. Syme spent a period on loan at Sheffield United last season.
After completing her Bristol City return, Syme said “I’m really buzzing to be back, I know a few of the girls already and the ones I didn’t know have been really welcoming so I have settled in early on and I’m hoping we can build something really great here.
“I’m a dynamic and creative player who likes to get on the ball and make things happen. I’m hoping I can help build the play, create some chances and get the front three scoring some goals, like they did last season.
“I think we could get promoted this season, that’s the big goal. But, I think having a solid year where we’re playing well and enjoying playing will also help to achieve that in the next few years.”
Syme is Bristol City’s eighth signing of the summer transfer window.
