Chelsea complete signing of Swedish international midfielder Rytting Kaneryd

Chelsea have completed the signing of Swedish international midfielder Johanna Rytting Kaneryd.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the deal via an official club press release from Chelsea this morning. Rytting Kaneryd has signed an initial three-year deal at Kingsmeadow with the option of a further year.

The midfielder has joined The Blues on a free transfer after recently leaving Swedish club BK Håcken. Rytting Kaneryd made more than 50 appearances in all competitions for her former club and enjoyed outings in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. The Swede was a UEFA Women’s Champions League runner-up with former club Tyresö FF in 2013/2014.

On the international stage, Rytting Kaneryd has been capped by her country on 20 occasions at senior level and has scored one goal. She was a member of the Sweden team which reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022.

After completing the signing of Rytting Kaneryd, Chelsea boss Emma Hayes said “We’ve been watching Johanna develop over the last 12-18 months and she has had an unbelievable season last year in Sweden.

“She’s extremely quick, direct, a great age and she’s the profile player we’ve been looking for. Johanna will bring another dynamic to the team and we are really looking forward to her career with us at Chelsea.”

Rytting Kaneryd is Chelsea’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window.
