Chelsea have completed the signing of Serbian international midfielder Jelena Čanković on a three-year deal.
The Blues announced the news this afternoon via a post on their official club website.
Čanković joins Chelsea following a spell in Sweden with FC Rosengård. The 27-year-old has spent the last three years with the Damallsvenskan club. The midfielder has made 62 league appearances for FC Rosengård in which she has scored 19 goals. Čanković arrives at Chelsea having won league titles in Spain, Sweden, Hungary and Serbia and she will now be keen to tick off the Barclays Women’s Super League.
On the international stage, Čanković has 29 senior international caps for Serbia while she has scored five goals for her country.
After completing her move to Kingsmeadow, Čanković said “I am really excited to join Chelsea and it feels great to be able to play in a team with such a winning culture and great players. I am looking forward to seeing the fans and playing in front of them.”
Čanković has become Chelsea boss Emma Hayes’ sixth signing of the summer transfer window. The player had also been linked with Arsenal earlier this summer but it is their London rivals Chelsea who have won the race for her signature.
