Arsenal have today confirmed that ticket sales for the upcoming North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur have now exceeded 40,000.
The Gunners provided their latest ticket update via a post on their official club Twitter account. The two great rivals meet at the Emirates Stadium for the first North London derby of the season on Saturday 24 September.
Ticket sales hit the 38,500 mark last week, a total which exceeded the Barclays Women’s Super League’s long-standing record attendance of 38,262. Fans have continued to snap up tickets in the last few days with more than 40,000 having now been sold.
Arsenal’s North London derby clash against Tottenham Hotspur is one of several fixtures which are set to be staged at the Emirates Stadium this season. The Gunners will also face Manchester United and Chelsea in N7 while any UEFA Women’s Champions League ties from the group stage onwards will also be staged at the Emirates Stadium.
It is North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur who hold that all-time Barclays Women’s Super League attendance record of 38,262. The Lilywhites recorded that huge crowd for their home North London derby fixture against Arsenal back in November 2019, a game which they lost 2-0. That record now looks set to be smashed by The Gunners in just a few weeks time.
