London City Lionesses midfielder Fleming sidelined with long term injury

London City Lionesses have confirmed the news that midfielder Charlotte Fleming has sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an update from London City Lionesses this afternoon.

It has also been revealed that Fleming has suffered a Grade 2 Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) lesion and meniscus damage. The injury will sideline the player for a significant period of time. London City Lionesses have not put a timeframe on Fleming’s recovery but it seems likely that she will not play again this season.

The midfielder sustained her injury late on in London City Lionesses’ 4-3 victory over Charlton Athletic at The Oakwood last time out. The game was suspended for a lengthy period while Fleming was treated before being brought to a conclusion. Fleming was replaced by Carly Girasoli deep in second half injury time.

London City Lionesses signed Fleming last summer on a free transfer. The player scored one goal in 19 appearances for the club in last season’s Barclays Women’s Championship, helping The Pride to record a second-place finish. Fleming’s appearance against  Charlton Athletic eight days ago was her first for London City Lionesses this season. The player will be missed during her period on the sidelines.
