Chelsea select new fixture for Stamford Bridge return

Chelsea’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur will now be played at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues made the announcement this morning via an update on their official club website.

Chelsea were scheduled to take on West Ham United at The Bridge last Sunday but the opening round of 2022/2023 Barclays Women’s Super League fixtures were postponed as a mark of respect following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The South West Londoners have now revealed that they will return to Stamford Bridge when they take on London rivals Spurs on Sunday 20 November. All tickets which were purchased for the West Ham United match will remain valid for the Spurs fixture, although fans are able to claim refunds if they wish to do so. General admission tickets for the match will go on-sale at a later date.

Chelsea’s fixture against Spurs will see The Blues return to Stamford Bridge for the first time since the opening match of the 2019/2020 season. On that occasion, Emma Hayes’ side defeated the same opponents 1-0 with Beth England scoring the game’s only goal after just four minutes. A record crowd of 24,564 attended that match and Chelsea will be hopeful of beating that attendance in their latest Stamford Bridge appearance in November.

Further details regarding Chelsea’s long-awaited Stamford Bridge homecoming will be announced in due course.
