Liverpool begin life back in the Barclays Women’s Super League with a fixture against champions Chelsea at Prenton Park on Sunday.
The Reds have completed two years of rehabilitation in the Barclays Women’s Championship and with the strong support of the Club, they are now looking to make up for lost time in the top flight.
Liverpool boss Matt Beard could hand debuts to summer signings Emma Koivisto, Gilly Flaherty and Shanice van de Sanden against Chelsea. Loanee Charlotte Wardlaw is ineligible to face her parent club while long term absentee Rylee Foster remains sidelined. Rhiannon Roberts has been struggling with an injury but could play.
As you would expect, competition in the Chelsea squad is really high going into the new season. The Blues have strengthened over the summer and Kadeisha Buchanan, Jelena Cankovic, Eve Perisset, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd and Katerina Svitkova could all be in-line to make their debuts on Merseyside.
The Barclays Women’s Super League fixture between Liverpool and Chelsea kicks-off at 5pm on Sunday evening. The game is likely to attract a record crowd for a Liverpool Women fixture at Prenton Park with more than 3,000 tickets sold. Tickets for the match remain on-sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
