PREVIEW: Durham v Manchester United

Durham will be hoping to continue their excellent record against Manchester United when the two clubs meet at Maiden Castle in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup group stage on Wednesday evening.

The Wildcats have faced Manchester United on four occasions and have avoided defeat in 90 minutes in three of those matches. The two sides met in last season’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup with Durham holding Manchester United to a 2-2 draw. The Red Devils then collected the bonus point with a 5-3 victory on penalties.

Durham are again set to be without the services of full-back Lauren Briggs while the condition of captain Sarah Wilson is not known. Goalkeeper Tatiana Saunders was another notable absentee from the side which took on Lewes last time out.

Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner continues to juggle a number of injuries with Ona Batlle, Grace Clinton, Alessia Russo and Aoife Mannion all sidelined. Skinner has confirmed that he will make changes to his starting XI with Sophie Baggaley, Aïssatou Tounkara, Jade Moore, Hayley Ladd, Vilde Bøe Risa, Martha Thomas, Adriana Leon and Rachel Williams likely to be considered for selection.

The FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup fixture between Durham and Manchester United kicks-off at 7pm on Wednesday evening. The match is completely sold out with no further tickets expected to be made available.
