Former Chelsea favourite Eni Aluko is the second Barclays Women’s Super League legend of the day to be entered into the Hall of Fame.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official press release from The Football Association this morning.
Aluko enjoyed a 21-year playing career in which she represented seven different clubs in England, the United States and Italy. Her most notable achievements came with Chelsea where she enjoyed two spells. In her second spell with The Blues, Aluko won two Barclays Women’s Super League titles, two Vitality Women’s FA Cups and was awarded Chelsea’s Player of the Year in 2015.
On the international stage, Aluko made 102 senior appearances for England while she was also a member of the Team GB side which competed at the Olympic Games in 2012.
After the announcement was made, Jess Creighton, Broadcaster and Barclays WSL Hall of Fame panel member, said: “Eni Aluko is a thoroughly deserving Barclays WSL Hall of Fame inductee.
“As a player, she set exceptionally high standards and was a key part of the growth in quality and popularity of the Barclays WSL. In a career full of goals and major trophies, Eni also broke down many barriers along the way.
“It’s great to see her trailblazing contribution recognised as she continues to utilise her wealth of knowledge of the game as a broadcaster and administrator.”
The final 2022 Barclays Women’s Super League Hall of Fame entrant will be revealed this afternoon.
